more or less

i guess i'm more or less decided on the course i wanna take.

went down SMa (oppo national library) for a consultation yesterday and jen(the adviser) was there to answer all our quarries.

so, for me as an A'lvl grad, i've got to do a year 1 which is equivalent to a mass com diploma certified by SMa which then only i'll be able to continue to do my degree in year 2 and 3 in collaboration with Murdoch University in Perth. the exciting part, i'll be able to plan out my modules in the last 2 years so i can do some here in singapore and some over there on-campus in aussie! :D
though, the down side would be that studying overseas will definitely be more expensive, one module there would be double the cost that of doing it in singapore(syllabus are the same). but, i'm sure it'll be an experience and i'll wanna attend the graduation cermony there too. rather than just be pronounced a graduate, plainly taking your cert and be happy yourself that tadah, i'm a grad. so no mood.

yet again, i'm not gonna think about going overseas at the moment. my plan is to focus on the current diploma syllabus and do as well as i can. my concerns about going overseas are not invaild- my family, my doggies. i don't think i will bear to part with them. but if its only for the last 6 months or so(depends on the modules avaliable in aussie too) of the degree, it'll not be of much harm right! ;) gees, that'll SO be my motivation! gonna complete my first year before telling dad anything about it, when i told him Murdoch was in aussie last night, he FREAKED out. and then i reassured him its just a collaboration, i can study in singapore and still get the cert.

after going through the gist of the course and comparing it with the one i wanna do at SIM, i find that its more comprehensive, more detailed and precise. the one at SIM-UB seems very theory based and may not be the one i'm really into, its like com studies at a brief, plus not forgetting its VERY ex. this degree however, i can do 2 majors - com studies and jounalism which i'm really really into.

the setback of private schools, guess there won't be much sch life, no campus life. no activities of sorts blah blah, so i hope i really get on well with my coursemates. anot it'll be like sch home sch home-.- and curriculum hours - 3hrs on wkdays and there may be some 6hr practical lessons on wkends at the media academy doing tv/print/radio. (can't wait to experience this!) 3 hours daily sounded 'huh!?' to me at first, but i won't be surprise if there'll be alot of assignments, which then re-emphasis the point of making good friends above. if i can cope, i won't mind making some extra money too. i've got pr to help me ask about helping out at a swimming organisation and i need alot of you guys out there to refer tutees to me!! primary school kids won't be a prob.

and thinking about the people going for this course, i hope they're not lians and bengs(l&b). private schs, inevitable for the public to think that people who go there are those who can't make it into the local unis(that's true for me,sad case) which means that they may not be as smart or hardworking (hmm maybe both are true for me too). but definitely i'll not consider myself an ah lian!
going for this diploma course, those who did not do very well for their o'lvl are able to take it too. they just have gotta do a few months(6 or so) of foundation studies and then they'll be eligible for this diploma as well. but some assured me that those having thoughts of doing mc would not be far much l&b. jen was saying students doing this diploma course range from 17-20, i hope i don't meet weird ppl. i'm not that afriad once i enter the degree in year 2, as those who enter would be the ones all out to do it. well, i do believe there are people just out to get a diploma cert, a private one i wouldn't know how credible would it be in singapore though, if you do not continue on.

i hope i'm making the right choice. it came so fast it feels unreal to me.
its like i've been on hold for the past months and suddenly everything is going at a fastforward, vroom. waiting for schools to reply and appeals and more waiting and now, my course is just gonna start in less than 2 weeks. and i need a laptop. many are recommending mac, but then, i may just need a normal lappy just for now? i needa decide real real soon. i'm gonna go down to do my application tomorrow and perhaps get to some bookshop to get an organiser and a cute notebook. i still have lotsa pens at home so just live with them first.

i've decided to do the july intake which starts on the 19th July instead of the oct intake which starts in mid oct, cause it'll be so long away and then i'm gonna slack for another 3 more months or so? i didn't want to. the thing is only that i'll miss 3 lessons on the 23rd, 26th and 27th due to my taiwan trip. it may seem like like its only 3 hrs for 3 days, but i'm certainly afraid, since i'm new to the course and i do not know how fast they're gonna do for that 3hrs, maybe a few pages or even a whole chapter! i've discussed with jen if its okay and she said it shouldn't be a prob, since i'll still meet the 75% attendance. and i promise i'll catch up with the missed lessons on my own and perhaps, i pray that the lecturers are helpful!
